Bridal Prep and First Look

In the mountains of Central New York, Brittany and Dan and their bridal parties prepped for a fairytale wedding. The couple chose a stunning location for their first look—Highlands Castle in Bolton Landing. This historic estate overlooks Lake George. Within the castle’s stone walls, medieval details enhanced the fairytale spirit of the day. Talking about the couple’s first look at the castle, Brittany says, “My most cherished memory is walking up the fairytale, castle stairs to see my groom for the first time; the emotions I felt were everything you want love to feel like…It was our fairytale. Advice for Future Brides

When asked what advice she would share with future brides, Brittany says, “I highly recommend getting a videographer. Photographs are beautiful, but the movement and candids throughout the day are memories that are priceless. There are moments you may forget and having your wedding day captured to remember and look back on is so special. And especially with today’s technology and creativity, wedding videos are like Hollywood movies that tell your love story.”

She also recommends not worrying about the bridesmaids’ outfits matching perfectly. “I think having the girls be comfortable and look different to each personality is a beautiful idea. I personally gifted the girls Kendra Scott sea glass earrings to keep them coordinated. And those earrings made their bridesmaid outfits!!”

And she reminds couples to carve out a little time together. “Sneak out with your groom or bride and make time for just you two to appreciate newlywed bliss and go see your reception space before anyone. You worked hard and put a lot of energy into making your special day, remember to enjoy it!”

Ceremony and Reception

Brittany and Dan’s ceremony and reception were held at Top of the World Golf Resort, Lake George, NY. Their outdoor ceremony area featured a scenic view of the lake and surrounding mountains. White petals decorated the aisle, and family and friends turned to watch Brittany make her way to Dan. The couple watched as their dog, Cesar, acted as the ring bearer. Their dog wedding concierge program, Canine to Five, groomed their furbaby in advance, took care of him before and after the ceremony and created a cute wedding film from their dog’s perspective.

After the ceremony, the bridal party and their guests gathered under a large white tent for the reception. String lights added to the fairytale ambiance. As a huge Disney fan, Brittany’s father-daughter dance included a routine to the Little Mermaid ending scene, when King Triton gives Ariel her legs so she can live happily ever after with her prince. Brittany notes, “I laugh because at first my dad thought it was going to be too over the top, but then he goes out and buys a legit Triton wig, beard and crown! Talk about father of the year.”

The festivities came to a close as the couple released lanterns into the night sky and watched them drift away.
